Owen Joseph Ruic, 79, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024 after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.
He was born on June 6, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late John and Coletta Martin Ruic. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Bruce Ruic and Kevin Ruic.
In 1964 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam era. After serving his country, Owen received a degree from Centralia College in Washington State. He spent his career as a telephone installer, as well as owning and operating several businesses with his beloved wife. He enjoyed fishing, metal detecting, and spending time with his pets.
Owen was a loving husband and a dedicated father who is survived by his wife of 40 years, Theresa Lewis Ruic; daughter, Amanda Ruic (David Erickson); son, Kendrick Ruic (Desaree); grandchildren, Jasper Byrd, Anna Ruic, Charlotte Wright; siblings, Paul Ruic (Terri), Brian Ruic (Clare) and Mark Ruic (Cindy). He is also survived by his father-in-law, Kendrick Lewis and Owen's lifelong friend, Dick Blatt.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243).
