Ossie Malone Grindles was born January 14, 1937 in Athens, AL. The third child of the late Otto and Ruby Petty. At an early age, Ossie joined Guiding Star Baptist Church under the ministry of the late S.T. Robinson. In later years Ossie moved her membership to Portland Memorial Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until death.
Ossie was a graduate of Central High School class of 1955. She retired in 2013 from Masonic Homes of Kentucky as a CMT with over twenty years of service.
Ossie was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was affectionately known as "Sis" and became the backbone of the family after the death of their parents. Ossie was an avid U of L fan. All who knew and loved her will sorely miss her.
Ossie is survived by her two daughters, Shelia Malone and Debbie Ramsey (Darryl); three brothers, Lorenzo Petty, Sr. (Shadie), Charles Petty (Barbara) and Otto Petty (Kellye); sister, Leconie Williams; one aunt, Rosie French of Athens, AL; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 10am-12pm at Portland Memorial Church, 3802 W. Market Street, Louisville, KY with funeral services beginning at 12pm.
