Oscar Thomas Sutherland, 80, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013. He was a dedicated husband as well as a proud and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Oscar was also an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors.
Oscar was born on July 4, 1932 in Waddy, KY to Oscar and Frances Sutherland. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Jamie Coker. Oscar is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Katherine (Jaggers) Sutherland; children, Randy (Vivian), Michael (Rita), Roger (Ella), Donnie (Cathy), James (Denise), Teri (David) Sutherland, Missi (Vernon) Gehlbach and Beth (Bruce) Hess; siblings, Hollis, Darrell, Virgil, Alvin, Danny, Keith Sutherland and Joyce Beard; 24 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 AM to 8 PM Monday, April 15, 2013 and Tuesday from 10 until time of service, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will take place at 1 PM on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
