Orvil Cox

Orvil "Joe" Cox, 82, of Louisville, passed away November 5, 2014. Joe enjoyed horse racing, especially at Churchill Downs. He trained horses to run barrel races in his younger years, and also kept many bird dogs.

Joe was born on June 15, 1932 to the late Delbert and Lizzie Bell (Kidwell) Cox. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Cox; sister, Alberta Jaggers; and one grandchild.

Survivors include his children, Delana Ward (Danny), Randall Cox (Terri), Vickie Smith, Alan Cox, Cathy Cox (Jason Smith), Tammy VanMeter (Tony), and Stephanie Cox; brother, Harlan Cox; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, November 10, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home - Southwest Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy). Funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00am Tuesday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
