Oretha Watkins

Oretha Watkins, 83, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023. Oretha was a stunning woman. She was funny, the best cook, and the best dressed woman around. Oretha was a loving and devoted mother and "big mama" to her grandchildren. She was very well loved and will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

She was born on March 23, 1939 in Huntsville, Alabama to Rosie (Taylor) Watkins and Josea "Bill" Watkins. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Dearl Hampton; sisters, Eliza Watkins, Geraldine Watkins, Lou Cretha Acklins; brothers, Pearline Watkins, and Theopolus Watkins.

Oretha is survived by her loving family, children, Carolyn Hughes, Ollie (Sandy) Hampton, II, Lenora Hampton, Thelma Hampton; sisters, Christine Tate, Odessa Watkins; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and extended family to cherish her loving memory forever.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Meadows Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
