The life of Onlia "Marie" Ware began on May 20, 1938, in Huntsville, Alabama. She was born to the late James M. and Bertha Lee Blackburn and was preceded in death by her sisters, Teresa Pride and Odessa Jones, first child, Daphnee Marie, and her beloved husband, Solomon Ware.
Marie committed her life to Christ at a young age; however, in 1974, she re-dedicated her life to Christ and never wavered as a Christian. She was steadfast in her commitment to Christ and showed unwavering support to her church family.
In 1955, at the tender age of 16, Marie met Solomon. Following a six-month courtship, they were united in Holy Matrimony. Together, they celebrated 63 years of marriage and were blessed with 7 children. Determined to complete her education, Marie attended night school in Chicago, IL where she earned her GED. During her life, Marie worked in department store merchandising, military factory munitions and hotel restaurant service. At her retirement, she spent the final 25 years devoting her life to what she cherished most…her children and family.
On March 17, 2024, at the age of 85, Marie gently departed from this life and was received into the hands of our Lord. She leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Evelyn Jones, brother, James M Blackburn, Jr; children, Steven D. (Lois), Michael A. (Margo), Sidney C. (Rhonda), Trecia Ann, Solderick W., and Maurice (Monique). She was blessed with 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
