Onie Clay Gatewood, Jr.

Onie Clay Gatewood, Jr. 74, passed away on November 23, 2023. His grandchildren meant the world to him and he enjoyed spending time with them. Onie loved going to flea markets, collecting movies, especially westerns and going on walks.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Gatewood; son, Onie Clay Gatewood, III; granddaughter, Amber Davis; parents, Onie Clay and Juanita Gatewood and brothers, Larry Gatewood and Tony Gatewood.

Onie leaves to cherish his memories, his daughters, Jean Davis and Tina (Steven) Oakes; grandchildren, Steven (Brittany) Oakes, Jr., Brianna (Thomas) Oakes, Shane Davis, Jacob Davis and Jayla Gatewood; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Brycen, Scarlet, Russell and Lucy; siblings, Sherleen, Walter (Sharon), Kenny (Linda), Joseph, Carrie (Roger), Ronnie and Anthony and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, from 4pm-8pm. A celebration of Onie's life will be Friday, December 1, 2023, beginning at 10:30am at the funeral home.

Onie will be laid to rest at Louisville Memorial Gardens West, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY.
