Oneda Lorina Lydia (Ott) Ringle, 100 years old, of Lanesville, went to Heaven on May, 31, 2013. She died in her home surrounded by her family after a difficult recovery from a broken hip in March.
She was born to Sophie Barbara Reinhardt and Louis Peter Ott on Dec 7, 1912 in Lanesville, Indiana and baptized on Dec. 29 of that year at St. John's Lutheran Church. She was confirmed at St. John's on March 28, 1928. Oneda was married at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Dec 27, 1941. Her husband, John Charles Ringle, passed away in 1965.
Oneda was well known and loved by her church community and Lanesville neighbors. As a widow she raised her own children along with her grandchildren and many nephews, nieces, neighbors and friends whom she lovingly babysat through the years.
She is remembered for her noodle making, pie baking, crocheting, ironing, and a nurturing smile. She was honored by her church and family on her 100th birthday.
Oneda was preceded in death by two older brothers, Walter L Ott and Elmore J Ott and two younger brothers, Louis C Ott and Thomas A Ott.
She is survived by three children: Barbara Snyder of Irving, Texas; Charles Ringle (Marsha Dye) of Lanesville, and Marsha Himmelhaver (Dan) of New Albany.
She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and their families; Sean Ringle, Nicholas Ringle Megan Fitzgerald, Danielle Miller, Julie Browning, Heidi Vaughn (deceased) and 15 great & great-great grandchildren. She touched the lives of many generations of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 2 PM to 8 PM on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM on Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church (1505 St. John's Road NE, Lanesville) with burial to follow in St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to St John's Lutheran Church or the University of Louisville Heidi King Vaughn Memorial Scholarship (Office of Donor Relations, Louisville, KY 40292).
