Ollye Marie (Perry) Watkins

Ollye "Marie" (Perry) Watkins, 78, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023. She graduated from Central High School in Louisville and enjoyed her career working with children as a teacher's assistant. Marie had a love for gospel music, which went hand in hand with deep faith and strong devotion to the Lord. At an early age, Marie confessed hope in Jesus Christ, was baptized, and united with West Chestnut Street Baptist Church. In her latter years, she attended New Progressive Baptist Church.

She and her late husband, Bob, had an amazing relationship with an unbreakable bond. Together, they enjoyed traveling across the United States in their RV.

She was born on January 19, 1945, in Louisville, Kentucky, to David and Gertrude (Cowherd) Perry. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Bob Watkins, Sr.; and grandson, Ramik Watkins.

Marie is survived by her children, Anissia Morton, LaQuinta Echols, Myra Cherenfant, and Robert Watkins, Jr. (LaLecha); grandchildren that she loved and adored, Jakiyah Lee, Nicholas Cole, Cha'Veya Ross (Christian), James Watkins, and Justin Watkins; great-grandchildren, Xavier Ross, King Watkins, Isaiah Watkins, Quincy Watkins, and Yasmin Watkins; sister, Patricia Ray; and a host of extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with her funeral service taking place at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Central Cemetery in Radcliff, Kentucky.
