Norman Fred Foushee, Sr., 72, of Sellersburg, Indiana passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013.
Norman fought for our country in the United States Army, worked for Brown and Williamson and retired from American Commercial Lines.
Looking at Norman's life, he loved sports of all kinds and competition was his nature. He enjoyed the water fully, even from the barges that he worked. He lived life to the fullest even during the tough times, always adding a one liner to help the moment pass. The word "stranger" wasn't in Norman's vocabulary, always making it a practice to offer his hand out to help anyone in need. Anyone that knew him was affected by his strong sense of character, somehow coming out of it with a smile. He was a standing member of Alcoholics Anonymous. While greatly contributing to the program with vigor, he continued to believe that adversities could be overcome. May his light shine from heaven, always directing our paths there.
God Grant Me the Serenity to Accept the Things I Cannot Change, Courage to Change the Things I Can, and the Wisdom to Know the Difference.
JUST FOR TODAY.
Norman is survived by his sons, Russell Foushee (Joanna), Norman "Bruce" Foushee, & Eric Foushee; former wife, Valerie Sieg; brother, William Foushee; sister, Janice Oberhausen; and three grandchildren, Stephani, Russell Jr., & Jack. Norman is preceded in death by his parents, Hays & Mildred (Wilson) Foushee; brother, Wayne Foushee.
