Norman Glen Culbertson, 82, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019. He was born on August 13, 1936 in Louisville, Kentucky to Burwell and Annetta (King Overstreet) Culbertson. He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Deborah Culbertson. Norman attended Male High School where he was voted "most popular male" his Senior year. Attending Male was one of his "greatest experiences." Known as "Crazy-Legs Culbertson" by his teammates (in reference to his unique running style), he was a starting fullback during seasons that the team earned City and/or State Champ status. For his life time accomplishments, Norman was inducted into the Male High School Hall of Fame in 1991.

As a teen, Norman fought as a welterweight in the Kentucky Golden Gloves under the training of Joe Martin, who later trained Heavy Weight World Champion Muhammad Ali. Norman was also an avid Boy Scout who advanced to Eagle Scout rank. He was known throughout his youth as 'Tex' after spending several years in Texas - a fitting moniker after working briefly for Texaco in his early 20's. After Texaco, he worked at Equitable Life Insurance which recognized him as Salesman of the Year. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of Louisville.

Norman served in the National Guard. As a Freemason, he achieved the highest rank of Master Mason and was honored to serve in the Scottish Rite earning the rank 33°.

At the age of 35, he started what later became known as the Culbertson Corporation, a real estate holding and development company with primary assets in commercial office buildings and residential apartment communities in Indiana and Kentucky. For many years during his active years as an entrepreneur, his second home was the Columbia Club, Indianapolis, IN, where he cherished the relationships he fostered with the membership and staff alike.

Norman was a beloved husband to Debra Culbertson; father to Kenny Culbertson, , Mark (Leann) Culbertson, Lisa (Rob) Simmons, Stephanie (Dan) French, Zachary Culbertson, Jessica (Futoshi) Okabe, and Melissa Culbertson; and grandfather to Tessa Culbertson, Seth Culbertson, Alexandra French, Andrew French, Lucas Simmons, Jacob Simmons, Aio Okabe, and Sakura Okabe.

Throughout his life, he maintained faith in God through Christ and was a member of Christ Church United Methodist.

Norman is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Debra Ann Culbertson; three sons, Kenneth Culbertson, Mark (Leann) Culbertson, Zachary Culbertson; four daughters, Lisa (Rob) Simmons, Stephanie (Dan) French, Jessica (Futoshi) Okabe, Melissa Culbertson; eight grandchildren, Tessa Culbertson, Seth Culbertson, Lucas Simmons, Jacob Simmons, Alexandra French, Andrew French, Aoi Okabe, Sakura Okabe; and sister, Edna (Danny) Hill.
