Norma M. (Batliner) Striegel, 89, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012. She graduated from New Albany High School and later worked at Brown and Williamson for 19 years. Norma enjoyed cooking, playing cards, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany, the VFW Post 1693 Hobart Beach Ladies Auxiliary, and had served as a Democrat Precinct Committeeperson for 6 years.
Norma was born on March 8, 1923, in Floyds Knobs to the late Leander and Mary (Stiller) Batliner. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Hilda Becht and Earl Batliner; and grandson, Kevin Striegel.
She is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Raymond E. Striegel; sons, Raymond L. "Pete" (Peggy), Richard G. (Delores), Ronald J. (Libby), Roger C. (Barbara), Reed P. (Susan), daughter, Rozalyn S. Wolverton (Jeff); sister, Georgia Striegel (W.A. "Buddy"); 24 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 AM to 8 PM Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Holy Family Catholic Church (129 W. Daisy Lane, New Albany) with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
