Norma V. (Thornton) Haycraft Houchens, 73, of Clarksville, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2011. Norma had worked as a certified nursing assistant for many years. She loved to cook—especially desserts and candy—for her family and friends. Norma took pleasure in working in her flower garden and visiting her friends.
Norma was born on July 4, 1938 in Harrison County to the late Robert M. Thornton and Susie (Mink) Denzinger. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Haycraft; brother, Paul M. Thornton; and sister, Edith E. Pease.
She is survived by her children, Vaughn D. Haycraft of Louisville, Ernest E. Haycraft of Lanesville, Alton S. Haycraft of New Middleton, Deborah G. Haycraft of Corydon, Sheldon K. Haycraft of Clarksville, Robert L. Haycraft of Clarksville, Vanessa K. Haycraft of New Albany, Indiana, and; brothers, Robert E. and David O. Thornton; sisters, Dorothy L. O'Bryan, Helen L. Busby, and Rose L. Merritt; 18 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be at 11 AM on Friday, October 14, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
