Norma Jean (Barker) Herman, 82, passed away on Monday, October 22, 2012.
She was born on October 6, 1930 in New Albany to the late John Kelvin & Louise Lovian (Ramsey) Barker. Norma was united in marriage on February 25, 1947 to Robert Ervin Herman and to this union brought three daughters to bless their home. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting but her true love was spending time with her family.
Norma is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Bob Herman; daughters, Beverly Rice (Frank), Connie Holland (Charlie), Linda Yates (her late husband, Paul); sister, Sharon Dalton; grandchildren, Holly, Tony, Michelle, Mark, Andrew, Brooke, Nikki, Christy, Chris, Scott, Tracy, Robin, Amanda, Paula; 22 great-grandchildren, nieces, Barbara Hammett, Kelli Fuller, Brandi Milan. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, John "Buzzy" Barker.
Visitation will be from 11 to 8 PM Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM Friday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VistaCare Hospice Foundation (391 Quartermaster Court, Jeffersonville, IN 47130) or the Floyd County Humane Society (P.O. Box 1134, New Albany, IN 47151-1134).
