Norbert J. Andres, Sr., 75, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2010. Norb was a U.S. Army veteran and a long-time farmer. He was retired from both Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company and Floyd County Highway Department. Norb enjoyed fishing with family and friends.
Norbert was born on October 26, 1935 in Floyds Knobs to the late Peter and Rose (Meyer) Andres. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Leona Lawson.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Ann (Carpenter) Andres; daughter, Shelley Andres of Floyds Knobs; son, Norbert Andres, Jr. of New Albany, Indiana; sisters, Alberta Bertrand, Mildred Niehoff and her husband, Leo "Pete", Rita Nolot and her husband, Vern, Judy Bowe, all of Floyds Knobs, and Ann Andres of New Albany; brothers, Elmer and Melford Andres, both of Louisville, Kentucky; many nieces and nephews; and his best buddy and canine companion, Bayer.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 PM on Thursday, December 9, 2010 and 9 to 11 AM on Friday at Newcomer Funeral Home – Southern Indiana Chapel (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150). The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 AM Friday, December 10, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial and military honors to follow in the St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Cemetery in Floyds Knobs.
