Nora Mireya Hernandez, 65, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. Nora dearly loved animals and had a giving heart to people in need. She worked for many years at Walmart in New Albany, where she met so many friends.
She was born on February 21, 1957, in Terry, Texas, to the late Delfino and Rosa Leyva Hernandez. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Alfredo and Eloy Hernandez.
Nora is survived by her daughters, Mandi Hernandez and Katherine Decker (David); grandchildren, Megan (Hunter) Klein, Noah Decker, Lily Decker, Luke Decker, and Maggie Decker; great-grandchildren, Lukas and Elijah Klein; sisters, Mary Manson-Harris and Helen Avina; and brothers, Ben and John Hernandez.
A Memorial Gathering will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Elizabeth (8030 Baptist Church Road SE, Elizabeth, IN 47117). Cremation was chosen following Nora's wishes. Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) was entrusted with her care.
