Newton Ernest Calvert Jr.

Newton Ernest "Tubby" Calvert Jr., 67, of Louisville, KY passed away April 15, 2014. He retired from Mosby's Wrecker Service and attended Sun Valley General Baptist Church. Tubby enjoyed playing golf, betting horses, softball in his younger years, watching NASCAR, and watching University of Louisville Cardinal basketball. He especially enjoyed taking family trips and spending time with his grandchildren.

Tubby was born on June 9, 1946, in Louisville to the late Newton and Francis (Harris) Calvert. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Beverly Calvert.

He is survived by three sons, Joseph Calvert (Rhonda), Todd Calvert (Charity), and Newton "Ernie" Calvert III (Kim); two brothers, Charles Calvert and Theodore Calvert; one sister, Betty Peak; six grandkids; Cecilia, Amber, Destiney, Bethany, Cannon, and Danica; two step-grandchildren, Shelby and Kendall; and many loving extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, April 18, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home - Southwest Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy). Funeral ceremony will be held Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with entombment to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
