Nellie Virginia (Mason) Walker, 92, passed away Thursday evening, August 19, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. She retired from Colgate Palmolive in Clarksville, Indiana after 31 years of service and was a lifelong member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ in New Albany. Nellie was a hard worker and always took care of everyone. She was kind, generous and loved by all who knew her.
She was born on October 14, 1917 to the late Frank T. and Addie (Lang) Mason. Nellie was also preceded in death by her husband, Curtis A. "Candyman" Walker; nephew, Bob Wright and brothers, Lawrence and Charles Wright.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Robert Wright of Owensboro, Kentucky, Judy Gjesdal of Dry Prong, Louisiana, Linda Block of Ruskin, Florida, Camille Thompson of Redmond, Washington, Connie Abel of Dry Prong, LA, long-time caregiver, Shelly Funkhouser; and many great-nieces and nephews. The family will be forever grateful for Shelly's tender and loving care.
Her visitation will be from 11 AM to 2 PM on Sunday, August 22, at Newcomer Funeral Home – Southern Indiana Chapel (formerly Generations Funeral Home), 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany. The Funeral Service will be at 2 PM Sunday, in the Paul F. Kraft, Sr., Memorial Chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Utica, Indiana.
