Nellie Corene (Crawford) Austin

Nellie Corene (Crawford) Austin, 83, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022. Nellie enjoyed playing softball, Bingo, bowling, and shopping at flea markets. She loved being with her family and enjoyed traveling, camping, and boating.

She was born on August 31, 1938, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to the late Doris (Thomas) and John Crawford, Sr. Along with her parents, Nellie is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Austin; great-grandchild, Maeson Jackson; son-in-law, Steven Redford; and siblings, Margie Blankenship, Nancy Doyle, Bobby Crawford, Ronnie Crawford, and Jimmy Crawford.

Nellie is survived by her loving children, Lawrence (Treva) Olinick, Jack (Angela) Olinick, Michael (Cheri) Olinick, and Judith Olinick; grandchildren, Christina Olinick, Travis (Kelly) Basham, Wesley Olinick, Jimmy (Kelly) Faulkner, Jared (Kyndra) Olinick, Rachel (Austin) Barron, Mary Grace Olinick, Mariah Olinick, Seth Olinick, and Levi Olinick; great-grandchildren, Malachi Olinick, Nolan Basham, Ava Ballou, and Sophia Faulkner; brother, Johnny Crawford; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany (3309 Ballard Lane). Her Funeral Service will be at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with cremation to follow according to Nellie's wishes.

The family requests that contributions in Nellie's memory be made to the New Albany-Floyd County Animal Shelter.
