Nancy Lorene Schmidlin, 86, originally from Plain City, Ohio, passed quietly on May 10th at Baptist Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana.
Nancy was born to Samuel Sharpe and Emily Jane Sharpe in January of 1936. She spent her early childhood between Plain City and mining towns in Arizona. She returned to Ohio and graduated from Plain City High School where she met and married Willis Eugene North.
Nancy possessed talent and creativity. She enjoyed playing piano, guitar, electric organ and had a flair for creating decorations. After retiring as a telephone switchboard operator, she expanded her love of crafts and would create elaborate wreaths, holiday shirts and other festive decorations.
Late in life, Nancy was a resident of senior facilities around Jeffersonville, Indiana, and was known for her witty humor and unique phrases that delighted staff and friends.
Along with her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Schmidlin; daughter, Vicky; and grandson, Bryan. She is survived by her sons, David and Charles; grandson, Tommy; and great-grandchildren.
Cremation was chosen following Nancy's wishes. Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN) was entrusted with her care.
