Murray L. Smith

Murray L. Smith, 72, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Murray was a harness racing horseman at Louisville Downs and The Red Mile. He was a proud graduate from Atherton High School in 1969. The Derby was his favorite time of the year and he always made the worlds best derby burgers. Murray will truly be missed by anyone and everyone who had the honor of knowing him.

He was born on December 11, 1951 in Louisville, Kentucky to Kenneth and Louise (Labar) Smith. He is preceded in death by his Father, Kenneth C. Smith and Mother, Louise L. Smith.

Murray is survived by his loving Wife of 41 years, Judith Carol Smith; Son, Tony (Krissy) Grant; 3 Grandchildren; Siblings, Charlotte Wendrock, Kenny Smith, and Roy (Martha) Smith; Mans best friend, Neko as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends to cherish his memory forever.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). The graveside will be at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, at Smithfield Cemetery.
