Murray K. Baumberger, 88, of Borden, formerly of Kentucky, passed away Thursday evening, June 2, at Floyd Memorial Hospital. He was a Navy veteran of WWII where he served as a Cryptoanalyst. Murray retired from Joseph E. Seagrams and Sons, Inc. as a supervisor. He was a graduate and long-time Louisville Cardinals fan, and also a lay minister for the Episcopal Church and faithful follower of Christ.
Murray was born on May 20, 1923 in Martins Ferry, Ohio to the late Perry Baumberger and Helen (Shriver) Clarkston. He was also preceded in death by his son, Kirk Baumberger and brother, Dr. Ted Baumberger.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Jerri L. (Skeans) Baumberger; sons, Rick Hundley (Cindy) of Paducah, KY, James and John Baumberger both of Clarksville; Andrew Baumberger (Angela) of Jeffersvonville; grandson, Nathan Baumberger, great-grandson, Hunter Baumberger, and step-granddaughter, Alex Burgin; former wife, Dorothea Blevins.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 PM Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Newcomer Funeral Home – Southern Indiana Chapel (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and from noon to 1 PM Monday. His Funeral Service will be at 1 PM Monday in the Paul F. Kraft, Sr. Memorial Chapel at the funeral home with military honors and cremation to follow.
