Mildred Ann Stumler, 88, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at Autumn Woods in New Albany, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 26, 1935 in Campbellsville, Kentucky to Payne and Pauline Sexton.
Mildred was baptized as a young adult into the Southern Baptist faith and spent her life working hard to take care of her family in every way she could. She and her two daughters moved to Jeffersonville in 1967, where she worked at the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant during the Vietnam War era and later worked at Colgate Palmolive, being hired at age 43 in 1978, and was told she was the oldest woman ever hired there to date. She was known as Nana by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Stumler; a daughter, Paula Vissing; and three brothers, John Sexton, Melvin Sexton, and Bob Sexton.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna Bowman (Tony) of Charlestown, IN; four granddaughters, Tracy Van Horn of Jeffersonville, IN, Monica Williams of Jeffersonville, IN, Farrah Dillion (Duffy) of Lanesville, IN, and Jessica Miller (Jeremy) of Scottsburg, IN; nine great-grandchildren, Ethan Van Horn, Tripp Dillion, Gabriel Pierre, Arianna Pierre, Bryce Miller, Jayden Pierre, Marley Jo Dillion, Cora Miller and Zachary Miller.
A Private Family Service will be at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and she will be laid to rest at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
