Mildred L. "Toots" (Day) Himmelhaver, 87, of Lanesville, Indiana passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at her home. She was a lifetime and active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lanesville where she was involved in the St. Ann's Society and also the bereavement committee. Toots enjoyed cross-stitching and was an avid card and bingo player
Toots was born on August 19, 1924 in Lanesville to the late Oscar C. "Doc" and Anna M. (Fachinger) Day. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles S. Himmelhaver and brother, Robert Day.
She is survived by her children, Dan Himmelhaver (Marsha), Laura Causey (Russell); siblings, Melvin Day (Dodie), Rosemary Schueler; sister-in-law, Pat Bierly; grandchildren, Danielle Miller (Ryan), Megan Himmelhaver, Christopher, Sarah, and Robert Causey; great-grandchildren, Rece and Lara Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1 PM to 8 PM Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Ln., New Albany) and after 9 AM on Thursday. A rosary will be prayed at 4 PM on Wednesday. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church (2500 St. Mary's Drive NE, Lanesville) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
