Michael Dennis Wells, age 67, of Pekin, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
Mike was a devoted fan of motorsports, often being found enjoying the races at Ohio Valley Drag Strip or taking in the excitement of NASCAR event. Cooking was another of his passions; he took great joy in preparing meals that brought his family together, creating memories around the dinner table.
In addition to his love for cooking, Mike enjoyed playing card games and exploring the world with virtual reality. These activities were more than hobbies for him; they were ways to connect with those around him, showcasing his personality and desire for shared experiences. Mike also had an excellent sense of humor that went hand in hand with his contagious laugh.
Mike was a beloved member of a large family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Paula (Lamb) Wells. Together, they raised two daughters, Carrie Young (Lee) and Kim Shaughnessy (Jerame), who were a source of immense pride for him. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Michael and Olivia Young, and Owen and Addison Shaughnessy, who will always remember their grandfather’s love and laughter.
He was born to Arthur and Doris (Knasel) Wells on July 1, 1957, and in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry. Mike is also survived by his siblings: brothers Jack (Jeanette), Kenny (Judy), Dave (Pamela), Pat (Robin), and Bill Wells; sisters, Barb Link and Debby Hedrick (Aubrey); and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
In accordance with his wishes, Mike will be cremated and a celebration of his life will be announced at a later date, providing an opportunity for all who knew and loved him to gather in remembrance and honor his life.
