Michael Allen Van Meter, Sr., 71, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Michael was a baptized member of Jehovah's Witnesses since 1975 and enrolled in the Theocratic Ministry School. He was awarded the Golden Key National Honors Society in college. Michael retired from the US Postal Service as a rural mail carrier in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. He loved music, riding motorcycles, and was an avid lover of all of God's Creations in nature. He was a member of MENSA. Michael will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
He was born on February 8, 1952 in Louisville, Kentucky to Arland and Mary (Leonard) Van Meter. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Elnora; father, Arland Van Meter; and brother, Arland Ray Van Meter.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Wanda VanMeter; son, Michael Allan Van Meter, Jr.; brothers, Thomas (Anita) Van Meter, Warren Van Meter, Dennis (Sharon) Van Meter, Terry (Becky) Van Meter; sister-in-law, Judy Van Meter; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3500 Peleske Dr, Louisville, Ky.
