Michael Lynn Petty, a beloved figure in his community and a devoted servant of the Lord, went to his Heavenly home on April 2, 2025, in Jeffersonville, Indiana with his family by his side. Born on August 27, 1955, in Great Lakes, Illinois, Michael dedicated his life to ministering and spreading the Good News since 2000 across various churches in Greenville, Borden, Milltown, and Memphis, Indiana.
Throughout his life, Michael exemplified a spirit of service and compassion, touching the lives of many through his unwavering faith and commitment to his ministry. His proudest accomplishment was his family, his service to our country in the Navy, and his deep faith in the Lord, which guided him through every aspect of his life.
In addition to his ministerial work, Michael had a passion for detailing classic cars. He often visited Gateway Classic Cars in Memphis, where he could indulge in his love for automobiles, further showcasing his meticulous nature and appreciation for craftsmanship.
Michael was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, a commitment that reflected his dedication and patriotism. His military service played an essential role in shaping the principles he upheld throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Amy Petty; son, Sean Petty; and daughter, Shannon (Scott) Jones. Michael also cherished his role as a grandfather to his five grandchildren, Mia Williams-Jones, Charlie Petty, Daxton Petty, Sadie Jones, and Elleri Petty, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Earl William Petty Jr. and Louise Cantrell Petty, as well as his sister, Karen Johnson. He will be greatly missed but always remembered for the light he brought into the world.
Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, April 7, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, at the funeral home with burial and military honors to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
