Michael Lyn Dorsey was born in Louisville, KY on January 3, 1955 to Peggy Dorsey Lucas and Oscar Hamilton.
Michael was called "Popeye" to his family and friends. He was a giving and caring person. He was well liked, and had an enormous passion for cooking, and loved to feed everyone.
Michael was a graduate of Male High School in Louisville; he loved football and was a quarterback #83 for his high school team. His quiet times were spent fishing, which was another one of his passions. Michael was an avid North Carolina Tar Heels fan.
He was preceded in death by his mother Peggy Dorsey Lucas, Brother Ellis Lucas, Jr., and Daughter, Nechelle Crawford.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Lillian Dorsey, Sons, Delquan (Shealonda) Dorsey, and Marcus Warfield, Father Oscar Hamilton, Brothers, Kaashif Tour'e, Oscar (Becky) Hamilton Jr, David Hamilton, Seven Sister, LaTonya (Frank) Vaxter, Matilda Jenkins, Gloria (Malcolm) Lucas-Pullen, Gilberta "Cookie" (Waynie) Lucas-Gore, Peggy Lucas, Stephanie Hamilton, Ivy Kaufman, Seven Grandchildren, and 2 Great Grandchildren. Popeye also leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Friends, and Loved Ones.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, at Newcomer Funeral Home Chapel.
