Michael Louis Constantine, 83 of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on February 18, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 25, 1940, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Arthur and Marion (Aylward) Constantine.
Michael graduated from Providence High School in 1958 and served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer. Always by his wife's side, Mike was a dedicated member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, where he coached many girls and boys CYO basketball and softball teams, served on the parish council, enjoyed painting play backdrops for the school, and many other volunteer capacities.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Vivian (Kruer) Constantine; and his five daughters, Karen (Oliver) Davis-Powers, Cheryl (Jody) Martin, Jill (Mark) Aemmer, Elizabeth (Adam) Miller, and Hollee (Jeremy) Smith. Michael is survived by his sister, Susan (Jerry) O'Grady; his aunt, Jane (Bill) Aylward; cousins, Bill and Bruce Aylward; and nephews, Sean and Patrick O'Grady.
Grandpa Mike could often be found in the bleachers, court-side, and in the audience supporting his 13 grandchildren, including Kayla (Danny) Miller, Oliver Powers, Jr., Zachary Powers, Brandon Davis, Carter Davis, Alex Martin, Sidney Martin, Lane Aemmer, Emery Aemmer, Isabel Miller, Isaac Miller, Ava Miller, and Cole Smith.
Michael was a devoted family man who was an extraordinary father and husband. He was always quick with a smile and greeting, as he loved people. He coached his girls to many championship softball games at the Floyds Knobs Community Club and adored his many grandchildren, often making them pirate ships or doll cradles in his workshop.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday in the chapel at St. Mary of the Knobs with military honors and burial to follow in the church cemetery.
