Michael Carl Canty, 43, of LaGrange, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.
Michael was born on April 15, 1980 in Louisville, Kentucky to Mary Ann and Billy Canty. He is survived by his loving mother, Mary Ann Capps, beloved children, Shjantek and Corin Canty, siblings, Brittany Williams (Jon), Crystal Caudillo (Mario) and William Curtis (Shannon Smith), 3 aunts, 2 uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including the mother of his children, Amanda Eldridge. Michael is preceded in death by his father, Billy Carl Canty, grandparents, Bruce Parker, Mai Parker, Erma Canty, Carl Canty, an aunt and several uncles.
Michael was the proud father of his two children and an accomplished IT Senior Administrator. He was an Eagle Scout and a 1998 graduate of South Oldham High School. From an early age Michael loved reading, fishing, and camping – all of which he enjoyed sharing with his children. Like his father before him Michael had a knack for fixing things around the house and building things from scratch. Over the years he built many computers and other devices to solve a variety of problems. In his own words "he could pretty much make computers dance on command." Michael enjoyed a variety of music and loved to research any topic. He had a mind like a steel trap. Though Michael was an introvert, he had a wicked sense of humor and once you got him talking he would chat away about any subject under the sun. While he was not always comfortable sharing his emotions, Michael felt deeply. He was loved by many and will be profoundly missed.
Cremation was chosen and an informal memorial will be held at Wendell Moore Park Pavilion C (next to lake) in LaGrange Kentucky on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 2pm.
The family requests that contributions in Michael's memory be made to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) at P. O. Box 49104 Baltimore, MD 21297 or the Kentucky Chapter of American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at AFSP Kentucky 9152 Taylorsville Road #274 Louisville, KY 40299.
