Melvin Alan Sutherland

Melvin Alan Sutherland, age 54, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away Friday, January 20th, 2023. He was a 1985 graduate of Shawnee High School. He was an auto mechanic with Quality Exhaust and S&S transmission. He was an avid University of Louisville, Dallas Cowboys, and Boston Celtics fan. Melvin truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, spending time and chatting with friends and family, lending a helping hand to anyone in need, and love to coach his two sons in basketball and football. Melvin had an uncanny ability to make anyone laugh with his sense of humor.

He was born on March 20th, 1968 in Louisville, Kentucky, to Melvin and Theresa (Sutherland) Ells. He is preceded in death by his father, Melvin Ells and his brother, Jesse Sutherland.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Joann (Price) Sutherland; his sons, Jermey Sutherland and Joseph (Emily) Sutherland; step-father, Robert Schuler; brothers, Timmy Schuler and Scott Ells; sisters, Tammy Phelps, Jennifer Craycraft and Melissa Cobb. Melvin also leaves behind, to cherish his memory, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family.

A gathering to celebrate Melvin's life will be 4 to 7pm on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243.
