Melvin W. Singer, age 91 of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012. Mel was born April 19, 1921 in Johnstown, PA to the late Melvin and Nellie Seihl Singer. He was a proud World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Mel retired from Jewell Tea Co. He was a member of VFW 1170, Kentucky Colonels, and Kiwanis Club of VA.
Mel was a loving father, devoted husband, and was dedicated to his family. He enjoyed watching the U of L Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers, playing golf, and enjoyed life to the fullest.
In addition to his parents, Mel was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Milla Gard Singer, and brother George Singer.
Mel is survived by his children, Sally Reid (Leo), Suzi Moran (Chuck), Vicki Cozine (Wayne), and Tim Singer (Mary); brothers, Richard, Tom, and Paul Singer; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4pm to 8pm Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY. Funeral service will be 10am Friday, December 21, 2012 at the funeral home with entombment at Louisville Memorial Gardens East.
