Melissa Lynn "Missy" Simpson, 51, of McDaniels, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. Missy was outgoing, a loving and devoted Emme to her grandchildren, and a friend to all. She was a talented photographer, and enjoyed writing poetry and spending time with her grandchildren. Missy liked the outdoors, especially the beach. Her favorite animal was the sea turtle. She loved music and texting all of her children to tell them they were her favorite. Missy loved a good pot of coffee while watching sunrises and sunsets. She loved to watch daytime game shows and Judge Judy. Missy always reminded her children to "be the best you". Missy will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
She was born on April 2, 1971 in Shelbyville, Kentucky to Steven and Rebecca (Horn) Burton.
Missy is survived by her loving family, mother, Rebecca "Becky" Burton; father, Steven (Mary) Burton; children, Meagan (Frank, Jr.) Riggle, Katelyn (David) Woford, Austin Moore, Keaton (Mallory) DeSpain; brother, Steven (Kellie) Burton, II; fiance', Chris Murphy; step-daughters, Adelia Simpson, Meadow Simpson, Lakelyn Simpson; grandchildren, Frankie "Turtle" Riggle, III, Adelynn Riggle, Saedii Riggle, Camden Moore, Layton Moore, Audrey Moore, Paisley Rogers, Kinsley Rogers, Mason Woford, Jaxson Woford, Keaton "KJ" Lee DeSpain, Jr.; nephews, Steven Burton, Wyatt Burton; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. Her Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Bethany Memorial Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
The family requests that contributions in Missy's memory be made to South Jefferson Christian Church.
