Melanie R. Duncan, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She was born on October 5, 1940, Melanie lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith.
For 32 wonderful years, Melanie was married to her devoted husband, Edgar "Ed" Duncan. Together, they built a life rich in shared experiences and cherished memories. Melanie's nurturing spirit extended to her children: Todd Houston, David Houston, Jill Cholmondeley, Brett (Beth) Duncan, and Andrew "AJ" Duncan, who carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. As a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and a loving great-grandmother to thirteen great-grandchildren, Melanie found immense joy in the laughter and warmth of her family gatherings, always emphasizing the importance of togetherness.
Melanie’s professional journey saw her serve diligently as a secretary for the healthcare system, where her kindness and commitment made a lasting impact on all who knew her. But it was in her personal life that she truly flourished. Her strong Christian faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and decisions while deeply influencing those around her. She was a proud member of the First Baptist Church of Glen Este in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she found community and purpose.
Known for her love of traveling and cooking, Melanie delighted in sharing meals and adventures with her loved ones. Her home was a haven for friends and family alike, as she genuinely enjoyed people’s company, granting them her heartfelt attention and warmth.
Melanie is predeceased by her parents, her beloved daughter, Kellie Duncan, and her son-in-law, Todd Cholmondeley. Though she has departed from this world, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, Indiana. As we gather to honor her memory, we will reflect on the remarkable life Melanie R. Duncan led-one filled with faith, love, and an unwavering commitment to her family.
