Max Bessler

Max Lewis Bessler, Sr., 85, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Indiana.

Max was born on June 30, 1927 in Valparaiso, Indiana to the late Benjamin August & Maude Mae (Pierce) Bessler. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Max was united in marriage to Erma Jane Grass on February 13, 1945 and to this union brought three children to bless their home. He worked as a machinist for many years at McGill Manufacturing Company in Valparaiso, Indiana where he later retired. Max was skilled with ham radios, enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his dog, Taco.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Erma Bessler; children, Max Bessler, Jr. (Laura), Jack Bessler (Janet), and Darlene Bessler; sister, Jean Connors; grandchildren, Kathy Nemoto (Lee), Beth Anne Daugherty (Josh) & Jon Bessler (Laurie); great grandchildren, Toby, Camilla, Addie, & Layla. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Maurine St. Clare.

Cremation was chosen following Max's wishes and a private burial will take place at New Albany National Cemetery.
