Maureen Celestine Wilkinson

Maureen 'Mo' Celestine Wilkinson passed away peacefully in Louisville, Kentucky on Thursday, May 26th, 2022, at 67 years old. Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Maureen was a graduate of Nazareth Academy (1972) where she went on to teach for 24 years after earning her degree from Temple University (1976). After her retirement, Maureen moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she married her loving wife and high school classmate, Mary Ellen Strain, who preceded her in death. A self-described free spirit, Maureen had a passion for the underdog and championed many causes throughout her life. She was fluent in sign language and had a passion for education. She loved helping others, traveling, and her furry friends.

Through it all, she was most at peace when she was with Mary Ellen. Prior to developing dementia, Maureen enjoyed time with her great-nieces after moving to Louisville, Kentucky. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. No services are planned at this time.
