Maudie Vaughan Lucas, 93, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024.
She was born on March 17, 1931 in Pikeville, Kentucky to Earl and Mabel (Meade) Meek. Maudie graduated from Paintsville High School. She married Alex Vaughan in 1947 after he returned from WWII. The couple lived in Paintsville until moving to Russell, KY in 1964. Later they moved to Lexington in 1970. In Lexington, she worked for 30 years as a cashier for Fayette County Public Schools. After her husband, Alex passed in 1990, she remained in Lexington and later married William Lucas. After Williams' passing in 2019, she moved to Louisville to be closer to family. Maudie was a devoted Christian, enjoyed traveling the world, but most of all loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alex Vaughan; husband, William Lucas.
Maudie is survived by her daughter, Kara Logan; son, Eric (Cynthia) Vaughan; 4 grandchildren, Daniel (Jodi) Lee, Rachel (Brandon) Harper, Alex Vaughan, Josh Havener; 4 great grandchildren, Charlotte Harper, Brently Lee, River Harper, Reece Harper; brother, Earl Meek, Jr.; and a host of extended family and friends.
Private family services and interment will take place on May 10, 2024 at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
