Mattie "Hannah" Simmons , 66, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.
Hannah was a loving wife and mother. She loved spending time with her family. She retired from the Jefferson County Board of Education after 27 years of service. She was a member of the Baxter Avenue Baptist Church.
Hannah was born on November 28, 1954 in Louisville, Kentucky to Thomas and Margaret Shaw. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Robby Edward Thompson; brother, Michael Shaw; sisters, Ruby Dudgeon, and JoAnn Reid.
Hannah is survived by her loving Husband of 11 years, Marshall Lee Simmons; Son, Mark Anthony Thompson, Sr.; (Veronica), Daughter, Vicki Lynn Huffman (Jeremy); brothers, William Shaw, Thomas Shaw, and Harvey Shaw; grandchildren, Mark Thompson Jr., Danielle Abell, Jaiden Thompson, Quinten Huffman; great-grandchildren, Mark Thompson III, Everleigh Thompson, Klaire Abell, Kinley Abell, and Karoline Abell.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Newcomer Cremation, Funerals & Receptions-East Louisville Chapel, (235 Juneau Dr.). Her Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
The family requests that contributions in Hannah's memory be made to the WHAS Crusade For Children.
