Matthew Harakal, 53, of Paoli, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024. He graduated culinary school from Johnson and Wales in 1991. Matthew was the former owner/executive chef of 21 North Cellar and Eatery. He loved and excelled at cooking, food, music, spending time with family, and his fur babies.
He was born on June 16, 1970 in Warren, Ohio to Thomas Harakal and Betty (Maybee) Loyd. He is preceded in death by his father; sister, Melissa Moore; and brother, Andrew Harakal.
Matthew is survived by his loving "Anam Cara", Tina Tate; mother, Betty Loyd; sister, Stacey Takash; brother, Thomas Harakal; two nieces, Rebecca Garrett and Ashley Coonce; two nephews, Joseph (Megan) Pratchler and John Takash; great nieces and nephews, Joshlynn, McKenna, JR, and Ozzie; and caring aunts, uncles, and cousins.
It was Matthew's wishes to be cremated with a celebration of life at a later date. Cremation was entrusted to Newcomer Cremations Funeral and Receptions.
The family requests that contributions in Matthew's memory be made to The Humane Society of the United States or The Middle Way House of Bloomington.
