Matthew William Theiss, age 44 of Flemingsburg, KY, passed away suddenly Saturday morning, April 20, 2013 at Fleming County Hospital. He was born on March 11, 1969 in St. Louis, Missouri as the son of Ken Theiss and Jean Theiss. He was employed as a floor sales clerk in pets at Wal-Mart of Morehead.
Matt was a 1988 graduate of Eastern High School in Louisville, KY and attended Morehead State University where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He received his Associates' degree in welding in 2007 from MCTC and received a degree in 2011 in cosmetology from Bellefonte School of Beauty in Maysville. He loved fishing, animals, NASCAR, but mostly he loved watching his son play sports. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Russell and Dorothy Theiss and Roy and Dorothy Evans and his niece Shelby Theiss.
Survivors include: his college sweetheart and wife of 15 years, Carol Bond Theiss; one son, Matthew Evan Theiss; his parents, Ken (Toya) Theiss and Jean Theiss; one brother, Jim (Jeanne) Theiss; three sisters, Sherri Lish, Chris (Wade) Stevens and Shelly (Aarron French) Theiss and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2013 from 4 – 8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown, KY. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Pastor Dennis Gosney officiating. Graveside services will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, Ky.
