Mary Amelia (Becht) Spainhour, 77, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Floyd Memorial Hospital.
Mary was born on May 3, 1936 in Floyd County to the late Anthony and Cora Becht. She was also preceded in death by her daughter in law, Pam Henize. Mary was retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 25 years of service and made many friends on her route. Mary adored her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary of the Knobs Church. She loved traveling with trips to New Orleans and Las Vegas among them. Mary had a green thumb and loved working in her flower garden.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ronald Spainhour, children; Ronald (Jane), Gregory, Glenn (Nancy), Dennis, Patrick (Cindy), Richard, brother; Anthony "Junie" Becht (Margaret), grandchildren; Patrick, Dustin, Laura, and Katelyn Spainhour, Dora Beatrice, Jennifer Gordon, and Matt Balmer, great grandchildren; Lilly Spainhour, Andrew, Daniel, Xavier Beatrice, and Madison Balmer.
Visitation will be 1 to 8 PM on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN). Her Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday in the chapel at the funeral home with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
