On Saturday, January 13, 2024, Mary M. (Stone) Siver, beloved mom and grandmother, passed away at age 83. Mary was born to Leon (Lee) J. Stone and Mary K. (Koehler) Stone on July 20, 1940. She attended school in Rochester, NY and graduated high school in 1958. She went on to take business courses and worked in banking until she got married.
Mary's best friend wanted to enlist in the Air Force, and she convinced Mary to join her. At the time, Raymond Siver worked in the recruitment office. Upon meeting Mary, he was smitten, asked her out, and the rest was history. They married in 1963. After many moves with the Air Force, Ray was stationed at Loring Air Force Base, Maine when he retired from active duty in 1976. By then, they had 3 children together, and Mary stayed home to raise them, devoting her life to being a loving, giving mom. She made every birthday cake, knitted hats and mittens, made dresses, and threw the best childrens' holiday parties in the neighborhood. She used her creativity to make and sell dolls and other handmade items and volunteered in her childrens' schools. When her children were of college age, she worked as a library assistant in Caribou, Maine and then in Grand Forks, North Dakota where Ray was relocated through the Air Force civil service. Upon Ray's death in 2018, Mary moved to Kentucky to be near her daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons.
Mary is survived by her brother, Thomas Stone, and his wife Barbara of Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania, their 5 children: David, Alan, Jeffrey, Becky, and Cathy, their husbands and wives, and their many children; her son Michael Siver and his wife Lori of Concord, NH; her son James Siver and his wife Christy of Wilkesboro, NC; her daughter Dawn Bargerhuff and her husband Kirk of Taylorsville, KY; and her 3 grandsons: William (Liam) Bargerhuff, Kennan Bargerhuff, and Hayden Bargerhuff. Funeral services will be held at Highview Baptist Church - East Campus in Louisville, KY on Sunday January 22 at 3:30PM, followed by the burial at Camp Nelson National Cemetery on Monday January 23. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to Operation Christmas Child to provide gifts and the Gospel to children in need across the world, which Mary loved to do every year.
