Mary Anna Simpson, 92, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023.
She was born on May 25, 1930 in Louisville to the late Lannie, Sr. and Alma Shartzer. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John William Simpson; brother, Lannie Shartzer, Jr. (June); sister, Dorothy Burkhead (Jessie); and sister-in-law, Carolyn Shartzer.
Mary worked for over 50 years with the News Enterprise in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. She was a member of Lyndon Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, James William Simpson (Mary Christina); grandchildren, Jamie Simpson (Alyssa), James William Simpson, Jr.; granddaughter, Amanda James; great grandchildren, Olivia, Nolan, Katherine, Kaden; sister, Donna Perry (Danny); brother, Ronnie Shartzer; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel (235 Juneau Drive). A short committal service will follow at 2:30 P.M. at the mausoleum chapel of Louisville Memorial Gardens East (11601 Ballardsville Rd).
The family would like to extend a special acknowledgement to Barbara Whitley, Terry Ray and Gary Burkhead for all the tender and loving attention shown to their Aunt Mary throughout the years. Also, a special thank-you to her brother, Ronnie Shartzer and sister, Donna Perry for their love and care throughout the years.
Expressions of sympathy in Mary's memory may be made to the Louisville Deaf Club.
