Mary "Janice" (Beavin) Schladant

Mary "Janice" (Beavin) Schladant, 79, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023. She retired after 30 years as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service and was a longtime member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. Janice enjoyed traveling and playing with children. She had a special love for butterflies and could also be described as an animal lover.

She was born on July 26, 1944 in Reno, Nevada to Franklin and Wilhelmina (Andres) Beavin. In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her siblings, Marvin, Marie, Wayne and Gary.

Janice is survived by her sons, Keith Schladant (Becky), Michael Schladant (Crystal); grandchildren, Hannah Schladant, Bryce Pierce; siblings, Leo Beavin (Phyllis), Verla Huffman (Mike), Ruth Lynch (Bill), Nancy Meiners (Charlie), Carl Beavin (Donna); and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Monday after 9:00 a.m. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023 at St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Joe Hill Chapel, 2605 W. St. Joe Road, Sellersburg) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
