Mary S. Miller, aged 84, died in Louisville on February 13, 2014 of natural causes.
She was born Mary Shapiro in Pittsburgh, PA on May 10, 1929 to H. J. and Bessie Shapiro, graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School in Pittsburgh, and received a degree from the Fashion Institute of Merchandising in New York.
Mrs. Miller was a buyer at Bloomingdale's in New York for a number of years before returning to Pittsburgh, where she married Paul M. Miller in 1954. She was an active member of a number of Pittsburgh's social organizations and was a President of ORT. She also won numerous prizes for her work in flower arranging. During this time she and Paul traveled to a number of exotic locations including India, the Japan, and South America.
Mary was perhaps best known as a realtor in Louisville, KY, where her family moved in 1971. Starting in 1974, she became an active agent and broker and was known throughout the community as one of the leading agents by the time she retired in the late 1990's.
She is survived by her son Thomas J. Miller, who lives in Indianapolis, IN.
