Mary Oaks

Mary Mitchell (Brooks) Oaks, 70, of New Albany, IN passed into the arms of our Lord on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Clark Memorial Hospital. Most of her close family and friends knew her by the name of "Mitch". She was born in Glasgow, KY on January 12, 1943 where she lived and attended school.

During Mitch's adult life she worked as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) until she moved to New Albany, IN. She then worked at Clark Memorial Hospital in the Patient Information Department from which she retired for medical reasons.

Mitch is survived by her husband, Gary Lee Oaks, of New Albany, IN; her three sons, Gus Schlueter of Floyds Knobs, IN; Brooks Groves (Amber) of San Antonio, TX; and Angelito Aquino of Floyds Knobs, IN; her three grandchildren, Audrey Groves, Julianna Groves, and Noah Groves all from San Antonio, TX. Mitch is preceded in death by her father, Herbert Brooks; mother, Mary Elizabeth Brooks (Rutledge) and her brother, Roy Douglas Brooks.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 1 to 8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral will be at 10 AM on Thursday at the funeral home. A private burial will take place in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery in Glasgow, Kentucky.
