Mary Jane (Martin) Nichols

Mary "Jane" (Martin) Nichols, 87, of New Albany, Indiana, formerly of Elizabeth, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018. Jane loved gardening, reading, quilting, sewing, and being with her grandchildren and watching Days of Our Lives.

She was born on October 27, 1930, in Evans Landing , Indiana, to the late William and Altha (Langsdon) Martin. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her former husband, Charlie C. Nichols; son, Charles "Bobby" Nichols; grandchildren, Janis Paschal and Shannon Ross Abell; and siblings, Edna Mae Bullington, Jake Martin, Wilma Houser Brown, Mitty Pease, Helen Martin, Freddie Martin, Ray Martin, and Lawrence (Judy) Martin.

Jane is survived by her loving children, Jerry (Janet) Nichols, Shirley Nichols (Jesse) Paschal, Carolyn Nichols Douglas, Jennifer Nichols Zettwoch, Valarie Nichols (Ronnie) Proffitt, and Mark D. (Cheryl) Nichols; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany. Her Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth, Indiana.

The family requests that contributions in Mary's memory be made to Hosparus of Southern Indiana.
