Mary Jane (Schindler) Wolz, 77, formerly of Floyds Knobs, Indiana passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2014. Mary resided in Nalcrest, Florida, where she was a member of St. Leo's Mission. An active member of T.O.P.S. and the Silver Bells of Nalcrest, Mary has been a long-time devoted fan of the U of K Wildcats. Mary retired from Bank One in Louisville and was a former member of St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church in Louisville and the Christian Mothers of St. Mary of the Knobs.
She was born on September 26, 1937 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Martin, Sr., and Irma (Sprigler) Schindler. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Erma Mae Walters.
Mary is survived by her husband of over 53 years, George Wolz; daughters, Michelle Draper and Stephanie Eichenberger (Daniel, M.D.); siblings, Martin "Junie" Schindler, Jr. (Alice), Leon Schindler (Kathy), Martha Fessel (her identical twin), Judy Kruer, Regina "Ricky" Philpott , Calvin Schindler (Vicki), Jim Schindler (Barbara), Dorothy "Dottie" Thomas (Jim), and Elizabeth "Liz" Timperman (Eddie).
Her grandchildren are Daniel Eichenberger, Jr. (Natalie), Jacob Eichenberger (Amanda), Elise Syoen (Steve), Benjamin Draper (Sara Vik), Lunden Draper, Sally Carpenter (Scott), Stuart Eichenberger (Rose Bennett), and Holly Gunn (Ian); and great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Lila Gunn, Cole, Vera, and Asher Eichenberger, Nora Carpenter, and one on the way.
Visitation will take place from 11 to 6 PM on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Monday in the chapel at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church where she was baptized, confirmed, and married (5719 St. Mary's Road, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
