Cavanagh, Mary Frances, 89, died on June 5, 2011, at Sacred Heart Village. She was born in New York City on March 25th, 1922 to Daniel and Delia McDonough Sullivan. She worked as a telephone operator and upon her retirement in 1988, she moved to Louisville and became an avid volunteer for Crescent Hill Ministries, the Visiting Nurse Association, St. Leonard's Church, and the V.A. Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Catherine Manz and Edith Grady, her husband William J. Cavanagh and their daughter Nancy E. Cavanagh.
She is survived by her daughters Joan Masters and Maureen Mattingly (Wayne) of Louisville; her sons William J. Cavanagh (Christine) of Hopkinton, Massachusetts and Daniel J. Cavanagh of The Woodlands, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren Colin Masters (Melissa) of Danville, Ky., Carolyn McHendry (Ryan) of Independence, KY., Michael Meoni of Louisville, and William, Devin, and McKenzie Cavanagh of Boston, Mass, and her sister Margaret Hill of New York.
Visitation will be held July 1, 2011, 6 PM to 8 PM, Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY with burial at Pinelawn National Cemetery in New York at a later date.
