Mary Beatrice (Akers) Ellenbrand

Mary Beatrice (Akers) Ellenbrand, 74, of Borden, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022. Mary enjoyed playing softball, camping, and fishing. She was a gifted painter, an avid reader, and loved a good game of Bunco. Mary was a 4-H leader for many years and a youth coach for the Borden Youth League. Above all else, Mary loved spending time with her great-grandchildren.

She was born on October 4, 1947, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Robert and Elizabeth (Kron) Akers. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy, David, Bobby, and Thomas Akers; and sister-in-law, Casandra Pollock.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Donald L. Ellenbrand; children, Beth (Jeremy) Wingler, Jill (Damian) Popp, and Donald M. Ellenbrand; brother, Larry (Shelly) Akers; grandchildren, Adam (Brooke) Popp, Amber Durham, Daniel Lewis, Abigail (Isaac) Stevenson, Devon (Natalie) Lewis, Katy (Gary) Rowlett, Logan Wingler, Darcy (Joshua) Nunn, and Mason Wingler; great-grandchildren, Liam, Emilynn, Adeline, Thomas, Zoie, Kennedy, Ian, and Maddalyn; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Miller Cemetery in Borden, Indiana.
